SUPERVISORY SAFETY TRAINING
(1 day course with a maximum occupancy of 20 students)
The following topics are covered in the Safety Essentials for Supervisors course:
- The role of the Supervisor in the Safety Management System
- Loss prevention strategies
- Basic explanation of the Workers Compensation Board and incident costs
- Explanation of the Internal Responsibility System
- Explanation of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations
- Specific responsibilities under the legislation
- Highlights of the OH&S Act and Regulations as they apply to the organization
- Due Diligence
- Criminal Code of Canada Legislation, section 217.1 (Bill C-45)
- Managing contractors
- Hazard identification including:
- Risk Assessment
- Job Planning
- Job Hazard Analysis
- Pre-job Analysis
- Training employees
- Interaction with employees
- Handling challenges and concerns
- Leading and motivating employees
Safety Essentials for Supervisors is a one-day course. Students will be required to complete a written exam upon completion of the theory to demonstrate understanding of the material presented.
