

INSTRUCTION
SKID STEER
(1 day course with a maximum occupancy of 8 students)

- Duties of Employers, Supervisors, and Employees under the Saskatchewan Occupational Health and Safety Regulations
- Specific legislation as it applies to skid steers
- Specific components and terminology
- Attachments
- Safety devices
- Rated operating capacity
- Center of gravity
- Stability
- Hazards associated with skid steers
- Inspection procedures
- Repairs and maintenance
- Operating techniques including:
- Travel with and without a load
- Load pick up and deposit
- Scraping and leveling
- Excavating and back filling
- Piling
- Filling trucks or bins
- Operating on slopes or grades
- Parking
Skid Steer training is 8 hours in duration and begins with a classroom theory component that is followed by a written exam. The remainder of the session includes practical evaluations where students will demonstrate the required skills to maintain the Competent Operator Designation.
