INSTRUCTION

RIGGING

(1 day course with a maximum occupancy of 20 students)

The following topics are covered in the Rigging Course:

  • Duties of Employers, Supervisors, and Employees under the Saskatchewan Occupational Health and Safety Regulations
  • Specific legislation as it applies to rigging
  • Rigging equipment and classifications
  • Specific components and terminology
  • Types of hitches and when/how to use them
  • Sling angles
  • Calculating the weight of an object
  • Center of gravity
  • Load control
  • Reading a capacity chart
  • Blocks
  • Rigging plan
  • Crane Signals

Rigging training is 8 hours in duration and begins with a classroom theory component that is followed by a written exam. The remainder of the session includes practical evaluations where students will demonstrate the required skills to maintain the Competent Operator Designation.
