INSTRUCTION

MOBILE CRANE

(3-4 day course with a maximum occupancy of 10-12 students)

The following topics are covered in the Mobile Crane Course:

  • Occupational Health and Safety Regulations related to cranes
  • Specific components and terminology
  • Center of gravity
  • Leverage
  • Stability
  • Establishing crane capacities using load charts
  • Factors that reduce capacities
  • Hazards in the operating environment
  • Inspection of the equipment
  • Repairs and maintenance
  • Operation of the crane
  • Introduction to basic rigging including:
    • Basic rigging components
    • Inspection of rigging
    • Basic hitches
    • Sling angles
    • Load weight determination
    • Center of gravity
    • Lift planning
    • Hand signals

Mobile Crane is a course consisting of two sections. The first section includes the classroom theory portion of the course, and a written exam. Practical training and evaluations with onsite equipment are then performed during the second portion of the training. Course duration is dependent upon the previous experience of the students to be trained but is typically offered in a three to four day session.
