INSTRUCTION

AERIAL LIFT

(1 day course with a maximum occupancy of 8 students)

*Please note that Fall Protection/Arrest is a requirement prior to taking this course.

The following topics are covered in the Aerial Lift Course:

  • Duties of Employers, Supervisors, and Employees under the Saskatchewan Occupational Health and Safety Regulations
  • Specific legislation as it applies to aerial lifts
  • Specific components and terminology
  • Safety devices
  • Center of gravity
  • Leverage
  • Load capacity ratings
  • Hazards associated with aerial lifts
  • Inspection procedures
  • Repairs and maintenance
  • Operating techniques including:
    • Planning the work area
    • Travel
    • Positioning the unit
    • Raising the platform
    • Working from a raised platform
    • Emergency procedures
    • Parking

Aerial Lift training is 8 hours in duration and begins with a classroom theory component that is followed by a written exam. The remainder of the session includes practical evaluations where students will demonstrate the required skills to maintain the Competent Operator Designation.
